With great sadness we announce the passing of Lawrence McLean Thomson. Larry died peacefully on March 15th, 2022 at the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence.
Larry was a devoted husband to Carol (née Balfour), stepfather to Terry, Dawn (Scott Jamieson) and Susan (J Lopez) and grandfather to Alec, Tara, Molly, Jacob, Jessie, Jackie and Josie. He was father to Kimberly and Michael. Larry will also be missed by his extended family and many good friends, including the community at Lac Sept-Îles.

Born in Quebec City and raised in Portneuf, Larry was son to Adele (née Bishop) and Clifford, brother to Parkin and Donald. He boarded at Stanstead College and later completed Engineering studies at Mount Allison. He spent most of his career in the paper industry at Kruger Inc.

Larry’s fondest memories were of Lac Sept-Îles, where he spent the summers of his youth with his brothers and cousins. As an adult, he was very generous in sharing good times, his love of boats and his appreciation for cottage living with family and friends.

As per his request, there will be no public service. There will be a gathering of immediate family at a later date. At this time, you are invited to raise a glass in remembrance or to share a memory with the family on-line.

We thank all his caregivers and health professionals who worked with him in recent years and allowed us to spend more time together. We offer special thanks to the Lakeshore General, the Jewish General, the local CLSC and Teresa Dellar Palliative Residence. In lieu of flowers, donations would be gratefully accepted to the Lakeshore General Hospital, the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choosing.
